v0.8.5 - Bows and Item Swapping


Finally, I managed to publish a new version! Here is what's changed:

New Features

  • Switch Items (when not in Combat) via Drag&Drop. This is probably going to be changed to use Buttons instead, but for now you can drag an item from the Backpack to your Equipment, for example if you would rather equip a +2 Shield instead of a second +1 Sword.....
  • Combatants have a more 'dynamic' animation in Combat now.
  • Throwable Items are now thrown for real! This is still WIP, but Arrows and Potions cause more fun in the Dungeon now!

New Content

  • New Item: Bow (a second Bow is WIP, it will have a quite a special feature, so look forward for one of the next updates)
  • New Monster: Caterpillar. This was in already at one point in time, but got removed due to animation bugs. Those are fixed so welcome back, Caterpillar!

Other Changes

  • Update to Unity LTS 2022.3.16

Bugfixes

  • Sometimes when switching Species the appearances was not updated correctly.
  • When revived, previously equipped items are now removed from a character (Todo: remove them already when they die)

Known Issues

  • Under certain circumstances, when choosing a Floor, the Selection System asks multiple times for input, causing an issue with any further selections.
  • When throwing a potion during combat at a point in time close to the countdown reaching zero, the item appears to be used but is not. It is lost afterwards.
  • Throwables might look like they are not hitting their targets sometimes. But in the game logic, the throwable always hit.
  • Current Drag&Drop implementation is unintuitive. You don't always know if, when and how it works.
  • Visualization of 'Combat Spectators' looks off if there is a Wall/ no Floor at the west side of a room.
